LRMI is a project led by Creative Commons and the Association of Educational Publishers to establish a common vocabulary for describing educational materials for organization and search purposes. The SLC technology will leverage this common vocabulary to provide tagging and indexing tools that enable teachers to easily find and access learning content in alignment with the Common Core.

The Learning Resource Metadata Initiative project will:
• Issue and support tagging schemas for the Common Core
• Release metadata authoring and management tools for skills and subjects outside the Common Core
• Inform major search engines to improve discovery of Common Core content

A shared, consistent approach to metadata and indexing will enable teachers to quickly and easily find materials that help students meet the Common Core, across a range of vendors and products.
