Personalized Learning
For classroom teachers faced with the different needs of their many students, even as they are asked to do more with fewer resources, personalized learning for every student can seem like a distant goal.
Our Approach
Teachers know that every student is unique and that each student needs individualized support to succeed. The SLC is creating a shared technology infrastructure that will help bring educational materials directly to teachers’ fingertips so that they can quickly find the materials, tools and strategies to help them meet students’ individual learning needs.
SLC Technology & Your Classroom
The SLC technology will be designed to integrate seamlessly with teachers’ classroom plans while addressing students’ individual learning needs.
Helping Teachers Teach and Students Learn
Teachers know their students: what motivates them, what they struggle with, what it looks like when something clicks and a new subject opens wide before them. Teachers also know that a new learning technology isn’t very useful if it takes away time that could be spent working directly with students to identify and work on their learning challenges.
The SLC is designing shared technology services that will be quick and easy to use, letting teachers instantly access a wide variety of educational tools and content that map to Common Core educational requirements.
Enabling Personalized Education Everywhere
Every student deserves a great personalized education. The SLC is working to help students and teachers search through all the curriculum materials they have available and to find the resources they need to meet individual students’ subject and learning needs. And because the SLC technology will be designed to help states and districts take advantage of purchasing and licensing efficiencies, a greater wealth of resources will be available to teachers and students.
Using Technology to Make a Difference for Students
Technology alone is not a solution to the challenges that students and teachers face in education. The goal of the SLC is to establish a set of shared technology services that make it easy for students and teachers to have a full picture of their students’ learning and then find the resources and tools they need to provide personalized learning.
The SLC technology will help teachers do the following:
- Customize searches to find material that meets specific educational or core requirements
- Track student information to guide personalized learning plans
- Access educational materials and useful product information that are relevant across state and district boundaries
- Spend less time on administrative details and more time on teaching
